The future of civic storytelling lives with creators.

People don’t get their information from institutions anymore, they get it from people they trust. We’re building Michigan’s creator-led civic media ecosystem to meet that moment.

CORE VALUES

A woman with short curly hair, wearing a denim jacket, sitting with her hand on her chin. Behind her on the wall is a colorful sign that reads 'Michigan Creator Collaborative.' Other people are partly visible.

Everyone deserves access to information they trust from voices they believe.

Woman in brown blazer wearing glasses and a patterned headscarf pointing upward while holding a smartphone during a presentation or meeting, with a digital screen displaying text about TikTok and analytics in the background.

THE REALITY

More people get their news from social media than traditional outlets.

Trust has shifted from institutions to individuals, and creators are now shaping how people understand the world around them.

But the infrastructure hasn’t caught up.

Michigan’s civic narrative is still driven by campaigns & traditional media.

Meanwhile, the people actually shaping conversations—creators, organizers, parents, storytellers are: under-resourced, disconnected from policy and data, and expected to do this work without support.

WHAT WE’RE BUILDING

The Michigan Creator Collaborative
is building a new kind of system:

A diverse group of people sitting around a conference table in a meeting room, with some using laptops and tablets, and a person standing with a camera taking a picture. The table has name cards, water bottles, coffee, and various documents. The room has a whiteboard and a banner on the wall.

One where creators are supported as trusted community messengers, not just amplifiers.

WE INVEST IN:

People, not platforms

1

Relationships, not reach alone

2

Long-term narrative power, not short-term messaging

3

We run a paid fellowship that supports creators across Michigan with:

  • Monthly Stipends

  • Training & Skill-building

  • Editorial & Content Support

  • Access to Issue Experts & Policy Context

Creators don’t receive scripts.

They create in their own voice because that’s why people trust them.

WHY IT MATTERS

A group of people sitting outdoors on blue chairs, engaged in a discussion or event. The woman in the foreground is holding a green flyer and appears to be speaking or listening attentively. Other individuals are also seated, some holding papers or devices, with a woman in the background walking away. The setting seems to be a casual outdoor gathering, possibly a community or educational event.

When creators are supported

information becomes more accessible, conversations become more real, and communities become more engaged.

This is how culture shifts.

This is how trust is built.

This is how democracy works now.

Join us in building Michigan’s creator-powered future.
